Ahem. After a brief hiatus…

Yeah, yeah. Life intruded there for a while. But I’m back. And guess what? People are still creating new lists! Here’s an Thing that was posted this very day:

I had an amateur boxing license and trained for two years at a real boxing gym (prior to that I was in a college boxing club). After I won my first amateur fight, I lost interest.

Why do I like this one? It’s on the blog (theologian) MOM.

What did Brown do for her?

I faintly remember a concussion when I was a kid. This is a bit more serious:

When I was about 5 years old, I got ran over by a UPS truck and was put in a bodycast. I don’t remember a lot of it, but some of it, like riding to the hospital in my neighbors yellow car, and being put in a chair by my dad, strapped in with bungee cords so I could eat dinner… I sure hope my kids don’t have to go through this.

A celebrity moment, perhaps…

Not a moment that I’ve ever exactly had, but amusing nonetheless:

He still keeps the rose a famous Italian soprano gave him from her bouquet when he had a snapshot taken with her after watching an opera in Hamburg. He wanted the underwear of the yummy, beefy, hunky Tenor as a souvenir, but that would’ve been too much to ask.

This is a Thing from a woman who chose to adpt a child with Down Syndrome

And what have you accomplished lately?

I have learned to never assume what people are thinking when they stare. One time a couple was staring at Mikey in the mall and I thought they were appauled by him. I found out through the grapevine a few weeks later that they had just found out that they were having a child with Down syndrome and were thinking to terminate their pregnancy because they thought children with Down syndrome didn’t walk or talk. Then they saw Mikey toddling around the mall and signing to answer questions when he was about 1.5 years old and they decided to proceed with their pregnancy.

You really must immediately read the other 24 on this list

Seriously. Do it now.

When the child psychologist confirmed that Matthew was developmentally delayed, I thought that meant he could catch up. I really did.

An example for why “none of the above” is the fastest growing faith identity in America

I’ve written a lot about this in my professional life…

I am more spiritual than religious. In fact, corruption in organized religion has disillusioned me. I believe we are all tied together in this huge universe of ours…and we feed off other people’s energy. Positive energy is an incredibly super-charged force. Negative energy will suck the life force out of a person… Finding a balance between the positive and negative is the key and something we all strive for in our own way.

Sorry for the bit of a hiatus

My day job is at a daily newspaper. Chaos is ensuing. Made it a bit hard to focus for a while. But I’m back…

And I wonder how this tale ended?

One of those short posts that leave me wanting to know much more:

As a teen, I accidentally sneezed soup out my nose at a missionary.
